Bandits Abduct Deputy Governor's Relatives in Sokoto

On Thursday, around 1:00 AM, bandits attacked a village in Sokoto, abducting eight individuals, including relatives of the deputy governor, Late Aliyu. The assailants arrived on eight motorcycles, gathering around 30 people, primarily women and children, before releasing some due to limited space.

The victims included Hassana Adar, Maifata, Rabi, Alhaji Ishaqa, Kwamuso, Umar Yar Aji, Garba, Kabiru, Alkasim, Sani Muazu, Jadi Alkasim, and Patient Ladi, whose father was the deputy governor. The bandits also raided a phone charging point, stealing 100 mobile phones, power banks, and N40,000 in cash.

Residents reported a lack of security response during the two-hour attack and expressed their pain and neglect despite their connection to the deputy governor. They called for urgent intervention from the government, particularly the deputy governor, to address the worsening security situation in the area.

Attempts to get comments from the Sokoto State Police Command were unsuccessful.
