Bandits Abduct Deputy Governor's Relatives in Sokoto

On Thursday at approximately 1:00 AM, bandits stormed Garin Idi village in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting at least eight individuals, primarily relatives of the Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir. The attackers arrived on eight motorcycles and operated for about two hours without any security response, causing residents to flee to nearby bushes for safety.

Initially, 30 people were taken, mostly women and children, but eight victims were ultimately abducted, including three men and five women. The released individuals included Hassana Adar, Maifata, Rabi, Alhaji Ishaqa, Kwamuso Umar, Yar Aji Garba, Kabiru Alkasim, Sani Muazu, Jadi Alkasim, and Patient Ladi, whose father is the late Deputy Governor Aliyu.

The bandits also raided a phone charging point, stealing 100 mobile phones, a power bank, and 40,000 naira in cash. Residents expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation and called for urgent government intervention.
