Bandits Attack Emir's Palace in Kwara, Abduct 10 People

On Monday, around 2:00 AM, bandits attacked the emir's palace in Yashikira, Kwara State, abducting at least 10 people, including the emir's two wives and children. The assailants, heavily armed, first targeted the Yashikira police division headquarters, stealing ammunition before proceeding to the emir's palace, where they opened fire.

The palace was set ablaze during the invasion, but the emir escaped unharmed. Baba Saliu, a lawmaker representing the Kwara State House of Assembly, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack was coordinated and involved gunfire upon arrival.

Issa Jubril, chairman of Baruten Local Government Area, also confirmed the attack and noted that the situation was being managed by relevant security agencies. The Kwara State Police Command, represented by public relations officer Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, disclosed that a full-scale operation was ordered to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend the attackers.

This incident highlights the growing insecurity in the region, particularly in Kwara North.
