Bandits Kidnap Immigration Officer in Niger State Attack

On Tuesday, at approximately 10 AM, bandits attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service outpost located in Balia, Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State. During the assault, they kidnapped officer Umar Yusuf and seized two AK-47 rifles along with ammunition.

The attack was executed in broad daylight while the officers were gathered at the outpost, which is situated along Babanna Road near the Benin Republic border. Residents reported the incident to Daily Trust, indicating that the area has become notorious for banditry.

This incident follows a history of violence in the region, including a previous attack in November 2025, where two soldiers were killed, and several others, including civilians, were injured during a terrorist ambush on a convoy belonging to Hon. Jafaru Mohammad Ali Damisa.

Additionally, in July 2025, Superintendent Simpli Suleiman was killed in a similar attack by suspected ISWAP elements at another outpost along Babanna Wawa Road.
