Bandits Kill Vice Principal and Child in Kogi School Attack

On Wednesday at 10:00 AM, armed bandits attacked a secondary school in Iluk Bunu, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Among the deceased were Mr. Ganiyu Anifowos, the vice principal of UB Secondary Primary School, and a six-year-old child, identified as Sundai Ayel.

The attack involved a large number of armed bandits, estimated to be around 40, who arrived on motorcycles with the suspected intent to abduct students. The Kogi State Police Command, through its spokesperson ASP Saliu Afusat, confirmed the incident and stated that a joint security response team was deployed immediately after receiving a distress call.

The team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, which forced the criminals to flee into the surrounding bush. Preliminary findings indicated no evidence of a mass abduction of students, but investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.

The police have urged the public to remain calm and assist security agencies with credible information.
