Bandits Attack Three Kwara Communities, Abduct Five

On late Wednesday night, bandits launched coordinated attacks on three communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, causing widespread panic among residents. The assailants struck Iwo Odo, Gaa Idera, and Gaa Dembo, reportedly with the intent to loot and abduct individuals.

Five people were kidnapped, including prominent local politician Alhaji Yusuf Yunusa, who was preparing for his child's Islamic graduation ceremony. The attacks were characterized by violence, with gunmen firing sporadically, resulting in injuries to at least two individuals.

The situation in Iwo Odo was particularly dire, as the community was also preparing for a wedding ceremony, during which the bride's mother was abducted. Local security sources confirmed that the bandits shot two people and that a local vigilante group is attempting to track the kidnappers, although no official statement regarding ransom demands has been released.

The recent wave of insecurity has left farming communities in the state feeling vulnerable and abandoned.
