Bandits Burn 11 Houses in Benue Village, Security Forces Repel Attack

In Benue State, bandits invaded Anwas Village in the Kwande Local Government Area, burning down 11 houses and causing injuries to several residents. The State Command spokesperson, DSP Udem Edet, confirmed the attack and stated that security forces repelled the bandits without any casualties.

This attack comes amidst ongoing security challenges in the region, with previous incidents leading to the deaths of six people, including a former councillor, Lawrence Akerigb. The bandits' repeated attacks in Benue State, particularly in Kwande LGA, have raised significant security concerns.

The assault on Anwas Village occurred on a Friday, following a similar attack on Tuesday that resulted in six deaths. The former councillor lamented the continuous violence in the area, highlighting previous incidents where 28 people were killed on Christmas Day in 2024 and a total of 76 deaths over the past two years in various communities within the local government.
