Bandits Burn Niger School After N10m Levy Payment

On Wednesday, bandits attacked and burned down the Central Primary School in Dekara, Niger, after the community paid a N10 million levy demanded by the criminals. Residents, who spoke anonymously, reported that the bandits emerged from the Kainji Lake National Park and invaded the community.

The payment was made to ensure the bandits would not carry out further attacks, as they had threatened to do if the levy was not paid. Despite the payment, the bandits proceeded to burn down the primary school located in the district headquarters of Dekara.
