Terrorists Burn Five Schools in Niger, Urgent Action Needed

Terrorists have set ablaze five schools in Niger, as disclosed by Zubairu Salihu during a press conference at the Borgu LGA headquarters in New Bussa. This incident is part of a growing wave of attacks, including the abduction of the district head in Dekara on May 11, 2021, which prompted the closure of six primary schools in the area.

Salihu warned residents against Western education, and the ongoing violence has led to the complete destruction of several communities, including Konkoso, Kasuwan Daji, Pissa, Gangal Woro, Tungan Makeri, Old Gangal, Boiya, and Bakinba Wawa. Abdullahi Yahaya Sadauki, president of the Borgu Kingdom Youth Development Association, described the situation as a humanitarian emergency, with residents fleeing their homes and struggling for survival.

He urged the Niger State government to take urgent steps to restore security and provide humanitarian assistance to displaced persons, emphasizing that the people of Borgu deserve protection and security guarantees.
