Bandits Demand N100m Ransom in Kwara State Kidnapping

In Kwara State, bandits have demanded a ransom of N100 million for the release of the wife of Mr. Raheem Ogunrind, a forest guard who was killed during an attack in Oba Isin on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 7 PM, leading to a gunfight between the bandits and Ogunrind, who was popularly known as Baba Kafaya.

Following the attack, community members expressed fear of further assaults, prompting security operations to secure the town. Family sources reported that the bandits contacted them, insisting on the ransom for the release of Ogunrind's wife, who is the mother of Mr. Funk Ogunrind.

Meanwhile, four individuals were kidnapped on the Omu Aran-Isanlu road on January 5, 2026, but were released last Wednesday afternoon and are receiving treatment in various hospitals in Ilorin. Additionally, a suspect disguised as a beggar was arrested in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area, as part of ongoing security efforts to track down the bandits.
