Gunmen Abduct Eight Worshippers in Kwara Church Attack

On a Sunday, gunmen attacked the Evangel Church West Africa (ECWA) in Omugo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting eight worshippers during the service. Following the incident, three of the abducted individuals managed to escape, leaving five still in captivity.

Bolanle Olukoju, the state commissioner for communication, confirmed the incident and stated that the government has tasked security forces and local vigilantes to ensure the apprehension of the bandits. The Kwara State government condemned the attack, labeling it a cowardly act against a religious place, and commended the immediate response of security forces.

The government also assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property. Additionally, residents of three local government areas in Kwara South Senatorial District have been placed on high alert due to intelligence reports suggesting potential coordinated attacks by bandits later in the month.
