Bandits Kill 17 in Sokoto During Eid el-Kabir Attack

On Sunday morning, bandits attacked the Dangulbi community in the Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 individuals, including seven visitors who were traveling for the Eid el-Kabir celebration. The assailants, numbering in the hundreds and riding motorcycles, invaded the community, opened fire indiscriminately, and looted shops, causing residents to flee into nearby forests.

Among the deceased were Mund Nagoma, Abdullahi Danbala, Munden Chana, Muhammadu Dan Amo, Hassan Abubakar, and Danbaba Yidi Bafillac. Five of the victims were visitors from Adarawa in Gummi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, while two others were from Gidan Gambo in Shagari Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

The attack lasted several hours, with bandits remaining in the area until late evening, complicating the recovery of the deceased. Local residents have called for urgent deployment of additional security personnel and improvements to road infrastructure to enhance security response in the region, which has been plagued by repeated attacks.
