Troops Rescue 17 Abducted Travelers in Sokoto State

On Thursday, troops from the operation "Fansan Yamma" successfully repelled an attack by armed bandits in Sokoto State, rescuing 17 travelers who had been abducted. The incident took place in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area when bandits blocked a major route and attacked two vehicles.

Following a distress call, the troops swiftly engaged the bandits in a gun duel, which led to the bandits fleeing the scene, sustaining varying degrees of gunshot injuries. The military's rapid response was crucial in preventing further harm to the victims and ensuring their safe release.

Security sources, who requested anonymity, commended the troops for their professional courage and noted that their swift intervention averted a tragic outcome. They urged residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security operations by reporting any suspicious movements along rural roads in the area to prevent further attacks.
