Bandits Kill Seven in Katsina Community Attack

On Monday, suspected bandits attacked Unguwar Guru community in Sukuntuni Ward of Kankia Local Government Area, Katsina State, resulting in the deaths of at least seven individuals, including a victim identified as Malam Sule. The attackers, approximately 40 in number, stormed the community in the early hours, firing sporadically to intimidate residents and prevent resistance.

They moved from house to house, shooting and setting some homes ablaze. The incident has caused significant panic, leading many residents to flee their homes.

A local resident described the attackers as surrounding the community before opening fire, leaving people with no choice but to escape. The attack also impacted neighboring communities, including Duza in the Rimaye area.

Residents expressed concerns about the ongoing vulnerability of their community to such attacks and called on the state government and security agencies to enhance security measures. DSP Sadiq Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, stated he would verify the information and provide further details, but as of the report's filing, the police had not confirmed the casualty figures or the extent of property damage.
