Katsina Security Forces Kill Over 40 Bandits in Clash

On Sunday at approximately 5:40 p.m., joint security operatives, including local hunters and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, successfully repelled a large-scale bandit attack on Guga Village in Bakori Local Government Area. The operation resulted in the death of more than 40 armed bandits and the elimination of several top commanders, as reported by Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

The attack involved over 200 heavily armed bandits led by notorious kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki, who reportedly sustained life-threatening injuries during the encounter. The operation was a response to intelligence indicating the bandits' plans to dislodge local security forces and launch assaults on Bakori town.

Following the operation, security personnel began clearance operations to recover weapons left by the fleeing bandits. Tragically, five members of the hunters’ team were killed while attending to personal matters during the operation.

The government expressed condolences to their families and reassured residents of restored normalcy in the area.
