DPO Maud Sani Sagir Buried After Bandit Attack in Katsina

CSP Maud Sani Sagir, the Division Police Officer (DPO) of Rimi, was laid to rest amid tears in Katsina State following his death on February 13, 2026. He lost his life during a fierce gun battle with suspected armed bandits in the Karar Bush area of Rimi Local Government.

The operation was initiated after bandits mounted an offensive against residents in Magaj Village. During the encounter, three bandits were neutralized, and four magazines of stolen livestock were recovered.

CSP Maud and his colleagues engaged in intense gunfire to secure the area; however, he was tragically shot in the head. Insp Nasir Haruna sustained injuries to his hand but survived.

CSP Maud was taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina for postmortem before his burial. Family members, colleagues, and community members gathered to pay their last respects, highlighting his bravery and commitment to apprehending fleeing bandits and recovering stolen service rifles.

Ongoing commands assured the intensification of operations to rid the area of criminal elements.
