Bandits Kill Traditional Ruler in Ondo, Police Pursue Suspects

On Wednesday night, bandits attacked the palace of Oba Kehind Jacob Faledon in the Akur North Local Government Area of Ondo State, intending to kidnap the traditional ruler. The attack turned deadly when the monarch reportedly resisted, leading to him being found with fatal gunshot wounds shortly after the incident.

The Ondo State Police Command, led by spokesman Jimoh Abayomi, received a distress report around 7:50 PM from community leader High Chief Ajewol Clement. Six armed men stormed the monarch's residence, forcibly taking him away, but he was later discovered injured and confirmed dead at the scene.

In response, the police have deployed local security groups and tactical teams to the area, intensifying surveillance to track down the suspects. The police have urged the public to cooperate and report any credible information to the nearest police station as they work to ensure safety and prevent further attacks.
