Bandits Kill 10 in Katsina Market Attack, Burn Homes

On Sunday, armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Guga Village in Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, resulting in the reported deaths of at least 10 individuals, including a pregnant woman. The assault occurred in broad daylight as the attackers opened fire on traders, farmers, and residents at the local grain market.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the gunmen operating for several hours without resistance, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety. The assailants also set several houses ablaze and rustled livestock, including cows, goats, and sheep belonging to the village community.

Following the attack, mass burial prayers were held on Monday morning for the victims. The incident is noted as one of the deadliest in recent months, as rural areas in Katsina continue to suffer from repeated attacks despite ongoing security operations.

Efforts to reach the Katsina State Government and police for an official statement were unsuccessful, exacerbating the anxiety among residents living in fear of further attacks.
