Bandit Attack in Katsina Leaves 16 Residents Feared Dead

A bandit attack in Kiliya Village, near Bagagadi in Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State, has left at least 16 residents feared dead. The incident occurred on Friday shortly after the conclusion of Juma prayers, coinciding with the Eid el-Kabir celebrations.

Eyewitnesses reported that two armed bandits arrived on motorcycles and opened fire on villagers who were gathered to celebrate. A 14-year-old boy recounted the chaos as villagers attempted to flee, with many running for safety.

Reports indicate that 30 individuals, primarily women and children, have been displaced and are currently taking refuge in nearby Radda Village. The attack is believed to be a reprisal, following the earlier killing of two suspected gang members in the area.

DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, stated that they had not yet received an official report on the incident but promised to provide updates as more details become available.
