Bandits Attack Ekiti Communities, Kill Woman, Abduct Residents

In Ekiti State, bandits have attacked communities, resulting in the death of an elderly woman known as Mummi Isaac and the abduction of several residents. The attacks occurred over the last 11 days, with at least five individuals reported kidnapped.

Chief Kehind Abejid, a leader from the Irel Kingdom, described the situation as alarming and called for urgent government intervention. Following the attack, the assailants contacted the family of the deceased woman, demanding a ransom of N1.5 million for her release.

Additionally, they later contacted another family, demanding N10 million for the release of other abducted individuals. The attack left Mummi Isaac's son injured, and he is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Ikole Ekiti.

Chief Abejid disclosed that four additional people were abducted during this period, and he expressed concerns about the deteriorating security situation, urging Governor Biodun Oyebanji to deploy security personnel to the affected communities to prevent further loss of life.
