Bandits Attack Eruku Community, Burn Vehicles in Raid

On Friday, around 5:00 AM, heavily armed bandits invaded Eruku Community in Ekiti Local Government Area, setting vehicles ablaze and creating panic among the residents. This incident is part of a troubling trend, as the community has faced repeated attacks from bandits, raising serious concerns about the worsening security situation in the area.

Residents reported that the last attack occurred during a church live program, highlighting the vulnerability of the community. Local security sources, including vigilant forest guards, engaged the attackers to prevent the situation from escalating further, as there were attempts to kidnap individuals during the raid.

The proximity of Eruku to the boundary with Yagba West Local Government Area has made it an easy target for criminal gangs operating in nearby forests. Residents lamented the ongoing attacks, expressing fear for their safety and considering relocation if urgent security measures are not implemented.

They have called for security agencies to deploy personnel to strengthen the security presence in the border community.
