Bandits Abduct Five Residents in Tsafe Town Attack

On September 22, 2026, armed bandits raided Tsafe town, the headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area, around 1am, firing shots and abducting five residents, including women. Residents reported being awakened by gunfire.

The bandits entered the home of Lamidi, the father of the former Chief of Staff to Senator Abdul'aziz Yari Abubakar, where they kidnapped two women. They attempted to invade the residence of Nura Sani, Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to Governor Dauda Lawal, but did not succeed in abducting anyone there.

Tsafe had been under a curfew starting at 10pm due to a previous bandit attack. The targeted areas, Low-cost and Nomau, lacked local vigilante presence or security checkpoints.

Hon. Garba Shehu Fanchas, the Tsafe LGA Chairman, confirmed the attack and the abduction, stating that no lives were lost. He noted that security forces and personnel from the state security outfit, Askarawa, engaged the attackers and drove them back, while calling for additional government personnel to enhance security in Tsafe and surrounding communities.
