Bandits Kill Four, Loot Millions in Sokoto Attacks

Bandits raided communities in Sokoto, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and the looting of property valued at over N250 million. The attacks took place between Friday evening and Saturday morning, with one resident reporting that the gunmen stormed Gandi at around 7 am on Saturday, rustling over 1,500 cattle.

They attempted to break into a filling station but, finding it locked, vandalized a fuel pump and stole petrol and engine oil from black market vendors. In Maikujera village, the attackers invaded at approximately 6 pm on Friday, killing two residents, Lawwali Mikailu and Asmau Nanuwa, and injuring three others.

The bandits stole cash, livestock, and various goods, including mobile phones and recharge cards. Residents reported that the attackers arrived on about 200 motorcycles and had previously targeted the area multiple times within the week.

In response to the ongoing violence, community members called for increased security presence, as many families were fleeing their homes due to fear of further assaults.
