Bandits Attack Sokoto Village, Shoot Three and Steal Livestock

On a recent evening, bandits raided a village in Sokoto, beginning their attack around 8:40 PM and continuing until approximately 11 PM. During this time, they shot three residents and rustled livestock while also stealing mobile phones valued between N200,000 and N500,000.

The assault was executed in two groups, with one focused on livestock theft and the other firing sporadically to prevent residents from defending their property. Despite the attack being reported to relevant security agencies, no reinforcements arrived, and the bandits spent two hours in the village before withdrawing.

Residents expressed frustration over the lack of security personnel, as there were no soldiers or police deployed despite repeated appeals for assistance. DSP Ahmad Rufai, a spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, confirmed the attack but did not provide immediate details on casualties or further information.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of bandit raids in eastern Sokoto, contributing to growing concerns about community safety.
