Barcelona and Arsenal Target Julian Alvarez in Transfer Chase

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is set to discuss the potential signing of a new striker with sporting director Deco this week, following a 5-0 victory over Elche in LaLiga on August 23. One of the forwards under consideration is Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.

Arsenal has also shown interest in Alvarez, who has scored 49 goals in his first two seasons at Atletico after a successful tenure at Manchester City. Atletico Madrid had previously rejected offers for Alvarez, including a £130m bid from Real Madrid, but are now willing to sell him to Arsenal.

Alvarez initially preferred a transfer to Barcelona but is reportedly now open to considering a move to Arsenal, attracted by Mikel Arteta’s project. Tensions arose during a recent match when Atletico supporters booed Alvarez, leading him to leave the pitch quickly, which adds uncertainty to his future at the Wanda Metropolitano.
