Barcelona Signs Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for £8.6M

Barcelona has completed the permanent signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for £8.6 million. The Brazil international's move follows a decline in his playing time at Arsenal due to injury issues and the rise of Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as preferred strikers.

Jesus underwent a medical on Monday before finalizing his transfer to Barcelona, who were in search of attacking reinforcements. Napoli had also expressed interest, but Barcelona secured his signature.

Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists in 123 appearances. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Jesus was not training with the first team ahead of their match against Aston Villa, indicating a potential departure.

Jesus is Barcelona's third signing from a Premier League club this summer, following Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City. Barcelona had also pursued Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but negotiations were not forthcoming.
