Bart Nnaji Celebrates 70 Years of Engineering Excellence

Bart Nnaji, born on July 13, 1953, is a distinguished engineer and former Nigerian Minister of Power who recently turned 70. He began his education at St.

Patrick's College, Emene, and later received a sports scholarship to St. John's University in New York, where he earned a B.S. in Physics in 1980, graduating with first-class honors.

Nnaji continued his studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, obtaining an M.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1982 and a Ph.D. in May 1983. He also completed post-doctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985.

Nnaji has held various academic positions, including professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Pittsburgh. He served as Nigeria's Minister of Science and Technology and later as Minister of Power from July 2011 to August 2012, where he led significant reforms in the Nigerian power sector.

He founded a foundation in 1984 to support education in his hometown.
