National School Volleyball Championship Intensifies in Lagos

The National School Volleyball Championship, organized by the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) in partnership with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), is reaching a critical point as teams from nine states prepare to compete at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. The tournament, which runs for four days, is designed to nurture talent and select athletes for the International School Sports Federation (ISF) World School Volleyball Championship scheduled for July 1-10 in China.

A total of 28 teams are participating, comprising 18 boys' squads and 10 girls' squads, with hundreds of secondary school students bringing energy and passion to the event. NSSF President Olabisi Joseph praised the enthusiasm of participating schools and reaffirmed the federation's commitment to building a strong pipeline of volleyball talent within the school system.

NVBF President Musa Nimrod and Lagos State Sports Commissioner Kayod Ladel also expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to elevate the competition and ensure the selection of the best players to represent Nigeria on the world stage.
