Bauchi State Approves N1.5bn for Rural Road Development

The Bauchi State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved N1.5 billion for the construction of a 25-kilometer rural road in the Zaki Local Government Area. This decision, disclosed by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development, Faruk Mustapha, aims to boost economic growth and development in the region, particularly after significant damage to rural roads caused by flooding during the last rainy season.

The project is part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Market Project (RAAMP), which has a total budget of N5.6 billion. Mustapha noted that the project is crucial for enhancing agricultural productivity and access to markets, especially in light of climate change impacts.

The contract has been awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited, which is tasked with ensuring the road is raised above flood levels to prevent future washouts. The project is expected to be completed by November 2024.
