Katsina-Ala–Takum Road Project to Boost Benue Economy

The Katsina-Ala–Takum road project in Benue State, measuring 78.62 kilometers, is expected to improve security and stimulate economic activities across the region. Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this statement during an inspection tour of the ongoing project.

He noted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to fostering inclusive governance to ensure that every community benefits from federal infrastructure initiatives. Umahi urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the contract specifications and timelines.

Mukaila Danladi from the Federal Ministry of Works attributed delays to the suspension of mining activities in the state, which has affected the transport of construction materials from Ebonyi State. Security concerns in parts of the area and breakdowns of asphalt production machinery have also contributed to the delays.

The project, awarded in 2023, is seen as a significant intervention for the region, with plans to establish a health clinic to handle emergencies within the host community once full operations resume.
