Bauchi Governor Allocates N112.7bn for Education Sector

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed announced an allocation of N112.7 billion to the education sector in the 2026 budget, highlighting the administration's commitment to human capital development. During the combined eighth, ninth, and tenth convocation ceremonies at Sa'adatu Zungur University, he stated that 15 percent of the state's annual budget, amounting to N58.02 billion, is earmarked for education.

This includes N40.6 billion designated for capital projects such as classrooms, hostels, laboratories, ICT centers, and staff quarters. Ongoing interventions at the university include the construction of 20 classrooms, student hostels, and staff quarters, alongside improvements in security and infrastructure.

The governor emphasized the importance of regular salary payments, increased funding for scholarships, and reduced registration fees to support the university's autonomy. He also warned against practices undermining academic integrity, such as drug abuse and sexual harassment, assuring that offenders would face legal consequences.

Mohammed commended the university's management for producing graduates who contribute to the state's workforce.
