Bauchi Police Enhance Security for Upcoming Bye-Elections

The Bauchi State Police Command has implemented significant security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and credible bye-election for Disina State Constituency in Shira LGA and Sakwa State Constituency in Zaki LGA, scheduled for September 19, 2026, as per the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a massive deployment of personnel and operational assets in collaboration with other security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

Security measures include a restriction on vehicular movement and commercial activities from 6 am to 6 pm on election day, with exceptions for essential personnel. VIP security aides are prohibited from polling units, and the use of sirens or covered number plates is banned.

The Command has warned against electoral malpractices and assured residents of its commitment to a fair electoral process, urging the public to report suspicious activities.
