Bauchi Police Ensure Security for August 17 Elections

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the deployment of security personnel throughout Bauchi State ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu stated that comprehensive security arrangements have been established to ensure a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free election across the state's 20 Local Government Areas.

A statement from the Command's Spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, indicated that personnel have been strategically positioned to safeguard lives, property, and electoral materials during the election period. The command has warned politicians and residents against engaging in electoral violence, ballot box snatching, thuggery, vote buying and selling, voter intimidation, or any actions that could disrupt the electoral process.

Those found culpable, including sponsors and accomplices, will face arrest and prosecution. Aliyu instructed officers to remain neutral and professional, respecting citizens' rights and adhering strictly to legal provisions during the election.
