Bauchi Governor Joins APM, Seeks Senate Seat in 2027

The Bauchi State Governor has declared his candidacy for the Bauchi South senatorial district seat under the All Peoples Movement (APM) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He picked up his nomination form in Abuja on Thursday while attending a meeting of the party's national executive committee, which was led by the national chairman, Yusuf Dantal.

During the meeting, the governor addressed issues within the political system, citing unfair practices and pressures that hinder leaders from operating freely. He emphasized that his move to APM is based on the desire for fair leadership and justice within party affairs.

The governor's decision follows a trend of politicians leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including lawmakers and local government leaders, seeking better representation for their constituents. Notably, this is not the first time he is vying for a Senate seat, having previously represented Bauchi South in 2007 on the platform of the Nigeria Peoples Party before becoming a minister in 2010 and later joining the PDP.
