Bauchi Reopens Cattle Markets Ahead of Eid al-Kabir

The Bauchi State Government has announced the immediate lifting of the suspension on cattle markets across Alkaleri, Kirfi, and Tafawa Balewa local government areas. This decision, communicated through a statement by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor's special adviser on media and public affairs, is aimed at facilitating access to markets for residents ahead of the Eid al-Kabir celebration.

The reopening of the markets will last for two weeks, allowing residents to purchase sacrificial animals for the festival. The government had previously suspended commercial activities in these cattle markets due to growing security concerns, including issues related to cattle rustling, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

The decision to reopen was made after consultations with security agencies and local traditional leaders, who will continue to monitor the activities in the markets to ensure security and peace.
