Police Arrest Two Suspects in Military Recruits Kidnapping

The Kebbi State Police Command arrested two suspects, Abubakar Mallan Abubakar and Usman Muhammadu, linked to the abduction of three military recruits along the Anka/Bukuyum Road in Zamfara State. The arrests occurred on August 1, 2026, at approximately 6:15 a.m. during a targeted operation based on credible intelligence.

The operation was coordinated by police operatives after weeks of tracking suspected criminal networks. Preliminary interrogation revealed that one suspect provided useful information regarding the abduction, which took place in July 2026 along a route known for banditry.

One victim was identified as Kabiru Hassan from Ribah in Kebbi State, while the other two victims are from Zuru Local Government Area. The police confirmed that the recruits have regained their freedom, although details of their release were not disclosed.

The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution. Commissioner of Police Umar M.
