Bauchi Police Recover Body of Kidnapped Child
The Bauchi State Police Command reported the recovery of a decomposing body of a four-year-old child, who was allegedly kidnapped and killed by a family friend, identified as 20-year-old Rabiu Safiyanu from Nasarawa Medina Quarter in Bauchi metropolis. The child, belonging to Salisu Yunusa, was reported missing on March 18, 2026, after the father received a call from a private number demanding a ransom of 500,000 Naira.
The family managed to pay 100,000 Naira without seeing the child. Following an investigation, police arrested Safiyanu, who confessed to strangling the victim and dumping the body at Warinj Hill.
The police recovered the decomposed corpse, which showed marks of strangulation with a rope. The suspect is currently in custody, and the case has been directed to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The police urged residents to report any suspicious activities in their areas.
