Two Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder of Nine-Year-Old

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested two suspects, Yahaya Zubairu and Babangida Muhammad, both aged 20, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of nine-year-old Barhama Abubakar. The victim was kidnapped on March 21, 2026, with a ransom demand of 1,000,000 Naira made. Following police action, the decomposed body of Barhama was recovered, and a medical examination confirmed her death. According to Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib, the suspects allegedly conspired to kidnap and kill the victim by strangling her with a rope. Babangida Muhammad, a cousin of the victim, lured her under the pretense of delivering biscuits to her at school. Both suspects have confessed to the crime. The police have urged parents and guardians to report any suspicious activities and confirmed that the investigation will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to ensure justice and safety for citizens.
