Bauchi Water Resources Commissioner Resigns for Senate Bid

Nuhu Zaki, the Commissioner for Water Resources in Bauchi State, has resigned from his position to pursue a senatorial ambition for the Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections. His resignation, effective March 31, 2026, was communicated in a letter to Governor Bala Mohammed on Tuesday.

Zaki expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the cabinet and noted that his decision aligns with the guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political participation. His resignation comes amid ongoing political developments within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, where Governor Mohammed recently convened a high-level stakeholder meeting to address internal crises and strengthen party unity ahead of the elections.

Zaki's departure marks the first resignation from the Bauchi State Executive Council as political activities intensify in preparation for the 2027 elections.
