APC Remains Strong Despite Sylva's Resignation, Says Nabena

Yekini Nabena, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), addressed concerns regarding the resignation of Timipre Sylva, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, from the party. Nabena asserted that the APC's structure in Bayelsa is robust and can succeed in upcoming elections regardless of Sylva's departure.

Sylva, who also held the position of Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, resigned on Monday, citing the party's abandonment of its founding principles. In a statement issued from Abuja, Nabena claimed to represent about 90 percent of APC members in Bayelsa, who have decided not to follow Sylva.

He acknowledged Sylva's contributions but stated that the party had evolved beyond reliance on any single individual. Nabena expressed the commitment of remaining party members to strengthen the APC and support President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign in 2027, emphasizing their dedication to the political structures built over the years.
