Bayelsa APC Stakeholders Reject Zoning Plan Ahead of Congress

Stakeholders from Sagbama and Southern Ijaw have expressed their rejection of a zoning plan ahead of the APC ward congress set for February 18, 2026. The congress is intended to take place across various local government areas.

Allegations have arisen that the zoning arrangement was orchestrated by a select few individuals without the knowledge or consent of critical stakeholders in the area. This has led to concerns about the potential impact on party unity, especially as the APC has faced internal challenges, particularly from loyalists of former governor Timipre Sylva.

The Bomo Mandate Forum, a socio-political group, has also voiced its opposition to the zoning plan, which they claim unfairly favors certain individuals for the chairmanship positions. The situation reflects ongoing political tensions within the APC in Bayelsa, particularly as the party prepares for future electoral contests.
