Niger Delta Games Torch Received by Bayelsa and Delta States

Bayelsa and Delta states received the Niger Delta Games torch, marking a significant step towards the 2nd Niger Delta Games. Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, Managing Director of Dunami Icon Limited, announced that Edo state is prepared to host the games, scheduled to open on Friday, February 20, and conclude with a closing ceremony on Thursday, February 26.

Ikpokpo emphasized the need for facilities to meet required standards and mentioned that the NDDC hostel is ready for athletes' arrival. He also highlighted the importance of guidelines to prevent poaching of athletes among states, stressing that the essence of the games is not solely to win but to discover and showcase talent from the Niger Delta region.

Duoye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa, and Daniel Igali, the state's Commissioner for Sports, praised the organization and sponsorship of the games, which aim to unify the Niger Delta region through sports and foster a spirit of friendship and fair competition.
