Niger Delta Games Kick Off in Benin with Grand Ceremony

The 2nd Niger Delta Games officially opened today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State, with a vibrant ceremony filled with fanfare and excitement. The event's preparations were overseen by Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, the chairman of the Niger Delta Games, who expressed a mix of confidence and anxiety about ensuring a flawless execution.

Athletes from various states, including Delta, Bayelsa, and Imo, arrived at the Benson Idahosa University game camp. The opening ceremony featured a two-hour program with musical performances and comedy, coordinated by Edi Lawani, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.

The event will be broadcast live on three major television networks starting at 5:30 PM. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a key sponsor of the games, which aim to promote unity and sportsmanship among the Niger Delta states.
