Bayelsa State Supports 600 Entrepreneurs with N90m

On Monday, during the 2026 World Entrepreneurship Day at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri, represented by his deputy Peter Akpe, disbursed N90 million to support 600 young entrepreneurs, including women and youths. Each beneficiary received N150,000 and free PoS terminals after completing their training and registration with the Federal University Otuoke under the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme.

Governor Diri emphasized the importance of creating a conducive business environment and urged for the incorporation of practical skills acquisition into school curriculums. He commended his Technical Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, Mrs. Charity Kens-Godwin, for her leadership and vision.

Diri encouraged Bayelsans to support local businesses and advised youths to acquire vocational skills alongside formal education. He reiterated that skills acquisition is essential to combat capital flight in the state.
