Taraba State Disburses Startup Funds to Young Entrepreneurs

On Thursday, the Taraba State Government, through the Taraba State Youth Development Agency, began disbursing startup funds to young trained entrepreneurs in Jalingo. Governor Agbu Kefas announced that a total of N500 million was approved to empower young entrepreneurs with existing businesses, aiming to improve productivity and engage more youths.

He stated that the funds are intended to foster financial independence among young Tarabans and help them become job creators. The governor plans to increase the total funds to N1 billion to include more entrepreneurs.

Hon Gara Nongha, Chairman of the Taraba State Youth Development Agency, revealed that over 1,600 entrepreneurs were identified, with 300 selected for the first phase of disbursement, each receiving N500,000. The selection process was based on trust and the potential for innovation.

The second phase of disbursement is scheduled to start in September 2026. Additionally, Hon Justin Aondoasee Tyopuusu called for the establishment of an Adire center to promote local textile production.
