Bayelsa State Resolves Leadership Dispute in Brass Kingdom

The Bayelsa State Government has successfully resolved a lingering leadership tussle in Brass Kingdom. Following the intervention of the government, an agreement was reached that led to the withdrawal of pending court cases related to the dispute.

Deputy Governor Dr. Peter Akp disclosed that a meeting was held with the leadership of five communities in Brass Kingdom, where it was emphasized that the paramount rulers would serve as coordinators for a maximum period of one year to avoid a leadership vacuum.

Chief Beinmo Rufu Spiff was appointed as the coordinator for the next year, effective June 17, 2026. A five-member committee was established to draft a constitution for the kingdom, with members including Chief Claudiu Kune and Chief Sisei Ek Spiff.

The committee has eight weeks to complete its assignment. Dr.

Akp urged the paramount rulers to view themselves as part of a larger family and work collaboratively for the progress of the kingdom. The agreement aims to facilitate effective administration and reduce conflicts within the community.
