New Paramount Ruler Elected in Bayelsa After 55 Years

The Otakeme community in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has elected Mr. Gospel Obolo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renew Empire Nigeria, as its new paramount ruler, concluding a 55-year interregnum in the traditional institution. The election marks the restoration of the royal stool after decades without a substantive leader.

Mr. Obolo expressed his commitment to consultation, inclusiveness, and unity, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to rebuild the community. He noted that internal divisions had led to the absence of a traditional ruler for 55 years, despite the community's notable professionals.

He has initiated consultations with stakeholders and indigenes in major cities to foster reconciliation and support development. Obolo appealed to community leaders and youths to maintain peace and work together for the community's advancement, stating that his emergence signifies a new chapter for Otakeme and an opportunity for renewed unity and sustainable development.
