Bayelsa to Inaugurate Major Power and Infrastructure Projects

Bayelsa State is preparing to inaugurate several significant infrastructure projects, including a 60-megawatt gas-fired power plant, a 630-meter bridge, and a dual carriage road. Governor Douye Diri disclosed these developments during the March edition of the monthly praise night at King Glory Chapel in Yenagoa.

The gas plant, located in Elebel, Ogbia Local Government Area, is currently 99% complete and is expected to undergo a test run before its inauguration by President Bola Tinubu, scheduled for April 2026. This power plant aims to enhance socio-economic development and catalyze industrial growth in Bayelsa, which has struggled with frequent power outages.

The 630-meter bridge, the longest in the state, was previously inaugurated by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and its completion is linked to ongoing road projects. Governor Diri urged the political class to maintain peace during the upcoming political activities in the country.
