Bayelsa Police and Peace Architecture Collaborate on Crime

The Bayelsa State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Iyamah Daniel Edebor, held discussions with members of the Bayelsa State Peace Architecture on Wednesday in Yenagoa. The focus was on strengthening collaboration to combat crime, particularly cultism, the proliferation of firearms, and illegal drug sales.

Edebor highlighted the significance of early warning mechanisms and robust partnerships to curb crime in the state. He commended the efforts of the peace architecture team, which has intervened in 221 conflict cases since its inauguration in 2023.

The CP noted that Bayelsa State ranks as a peaceful state in Nigeria according to the country's security index and expressed hope for maintaining this status. Edebor also mentioned plans to establish a Bayelsa State Community Peace Commission to further engage youth against crime and violence.

Dr. Inebaretton Prey, the secretary of the Bayelsa State Peace Architecture, and Chorb Joshua from the Niger Delta Consortium were present at the meeting, acknowledging the police's support over the past year.
