IGP Disu Urges New AIGs, CPs to Uphold Professionalism

On Monday, during a decoration ceremony at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Disu issued a directive to newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to display the highest level of professionalism in discharging their duties. He emphasized that their promotions should be viewed as a call to higher responsibility rather than a reward, stressing the importance of accountability and a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, abuse of office, corruption, and dereliction of duty.

IGP Disu described the ceremony as symbolic of strategic investment in leadership at a time when the country requires effective accountability within the police force. He congratulated the officers on their promotions, which were earned through years of disciplined service, and declared that they must act as strategic leaders reflecting integrity and respect for the rule of law.

Additionally, he announced a strategic leadership retreat scheduled to begin on March 24, 2026, organized in collaboration with the UNDP to strengthen and transform leadership within the police force.
